Nokia Reading, a Windows Phone app for reading e-books on a Lumia device, will be coming to the UK and other European countries in the very near future. User can purchase eBooks and audio books from within Nokia Reading using your Nokia account like they do with Nokia Music. The user will be able to pin new publications to the home screen to get updates on what's going in the world with the RSS newstream in a future update. Samsung Exynos 4 in the new Galaxy S

Today Samsung will probably announce its new Galaxy S line device, which it is called by the press Galaxy S III until its official name come out, many speculation about the device’s specs is sweeping the internet, but one for sure spec is its Samsung Exynos 4 Quad processor which is 1.4 GHz quad-core, and the most important change from its predecessor is the switch from a 45nm manufacturing process to 32nm, which means smaller parts that draw less power, while delivering better performance, to be exact 26 percent boost in performance and up to a 50 percent increase in battery life according to Samsung, and they described it as “PC-like experience on mobile devices”. Blackberry 10 sneak peek

Yesterday RIM has demonstrated key features of the upcoming Blackberry 10, which its first handset will be available next fall. Three features were focused on in the demo, the first one is the Flow UI were you can glans at all the open application be simply swiping the application that you are on and you will see what is happening in the other apps without the need to leave the one you are working on. The second feature which is the new soft keyboard from RIM, where improved gestures were added to it, for example Swiping to the left across the keyboard deletes your last input for instance, while swiping up changes to the numeric/symbol keyboard. LG announced its Cloud service

LG announced the beta opening of LG Cloud service on May 1, LG Cloud allows users to manage and consume all types of content on Android smartphones, PCs and smart TVs. To use the service, users need to download the LG Cloud app from Google Play or LG SmartWorld app store from their Android smartphones, LG SmartWorld store from their LG Smart TVs or the LG Cloud website (www.lgecloud.com) from their PCs or laptops. LG’s Cloud service automatically synchronizes smartphone content (Photos, videos, documents and also 3D content) with the cloud server and the user’s PC and TV. All LG Cloud users get 5GB of free storage space. If you have purchased LG Smart TV or an LG smartphone, you get 50GB free for the first 6 months. No more Windows Market Place for non Mango Devices

Microsoft will close access to its Marketplace for all devices that haven’t been updated to Windows Phone 7.5 Mango In the coming weeks. Users would only be able to browse the Marketplace if they haven’t updated, but they won’t be able to install apps. Microsoft explains the requirement for Mango as follows: “Requiring Windows Phone 7.5 is part of a larger effort aimed at improving Marketplace performance and security, and paving the way for even faster growth and more new features.” All WP devices released so far can be updated to Mango, the user need to connect his WP smartphone to a computer with Zune, let the process go for around an hour after following Microsoft’s instructions all along. Yesterday Google announced its new could service “Google Drive”, offering 5GB of free online storage to anyone who holds an account with the search giant. This new service allow users to upload their files to an online storage for easy access from any computer or mobile, and it will work on PCs and Macs (there's a bit of desktop software you can download), as well as Android devices. And Google promised that support for iPhone, iPad and Chromebook is coming soon. Nokia has announced the availability of Nokia Browser 2.0, a new update for Nokia Series 40 devices. The new version reduces data consumption by up to 90%, for faster and cheaper internet access. Nokia discontinuing Ovi Share

Nokia announced they’re discontinuing Ovi Share on May 30, 2012. Users can download their content before the service gets unplugged. After March 13, users will no longer be able to upload files and the last date to download any files that the user may have uploaded is May 30. Ovi Share was Nokia's version of Dropbox, which allowed those with an Ovi account to upload content such as images and videos from their phones onto Nokia's servers. More...


Apple's new maps service

It looks like Apple is developing its own mapping service after it became clear that the iPhoto app on the new iPad does not use Google Maps to geo-tag images. The company has apparently ditched Google Maps for an open source project run by the non-profit OpenStreetMap Foundation, where they used their data in the iPhoto app maps along with a new Apple layout of the maps. Nokia new Meltemi OS

Nokia is working on a replacement for the Series 40 operating system, code-named Meltemi according to Reuters. Meltemi will be built on a Linux-based software platform and is supposed to bridging the gap between feature and smartphones. Nokia's more basic feature phones currently run its own Series 40 OS and there are now more than 1.5 billion Nokia handsets running this software worldwide. The Finnish company seems to be strengthening its lucrative feature phone dominance with the new Meltemi software, while re-focusing its efforts on its smartphone range with an aim of nailing the budget end of the market. More...
