Bluetooth 3.0 is good to go

Sunday, April 26, 2009
Bluetooth 3.0, the latest version of the Bluetooth technology, has now been officially announced.
It’s clear that the developers have focused their attention on achieving higher speeds of data transfer.

The key feature of the 3.0 version is the 802.11 Protocol Adaptation Layer (PAL), which basically enables Bluetooth to maintain transfers over Wi-Fi, which in turn should greatly increase the bandwidth capacity.

For the purpose, however, both devices that will take part in the transfer will have to be Bluetooth 3.0 and Wi-Fi enabled. If not, the process will revert to the slower Bluetooth speed.

Another new feature here would be the new Enhanced Power Control, which has been specifically developed to stabilize the connection between Bluetooth-enabled devices. It is designed to take care of any troubles that may occur when your phone is in your pocket, bag, purse… etc
