Samsung has been fined by the Taiwan's Fair Trade Commission on Thursday $340,000 for organizing an Internet campaign in violation of fair trade rules to praise Samsung smartphones while slamming those of HTC.

Samsung had hired students to write online articles attacking HTC and recommending Samsung phones.

Samsung posted an apology on its Facebook page saying that it regretted “any inconvenience and confusion from the Internet event”, and that is has stopped its entire Internet marketing such as posting articles on website.
