Nokia stopped support for Meego and Symbian

Saturday, January 04, 2014

Starting January 1st 2014 Nokia has stopped their support for Meego and Sympian, they have announced it on twitter, Ovi store will not accept any more apps for both, developers will continue to receive revenue from their apps that is already available, and they will remain available to download, though they will not be able to push new updates for them.

So this is the end of these OSs, of course the Microsoft acquisition was an important factor in speeding things up this way, also this acquisition was the main reason for Nokia to put the Android powered Nokia phone project on the shelf, in hope that it will bring Nokia back to the market as it was before.
