The future of Mobile charging

Monday, January 13, 2014

Qi standard is a standard developed by Wireless Power Consortium to allow devices to charge wirelessly when placed on top of a power transmission pad, most of the mobile manufacturer is working with it like Asus, HTC, Huawei, LG Electronics, Motorola Mobility, Nokia, Samsung, and Sony, and they aim to create a global standard for inductive charging technology.

In CES 2014 they demonstrated a new extension that allow the device to be able to charge while it is farther from  wireless charging pad, This makes it easier to build wireless charging pads into furniture, for example. Or into a car, the armrest of an airline seat and it can handle more than one device at a time.

The technology is still in its early stage, but it is already embedding in many devices like  Lumia 820, Lumia 920, Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7, Droid 3,  Droid 4, Droid DNA, Galaxy S4, and many coffee shops is offering the charging pad in their shops for the costumers to use.

So in the near future they will be no more wire all around your bed, and no more “the wire will not reach” problem, charging your mobile will be a matter of putting your device on your arm chair of table and it is done!!
