Despite all the circumstances of the war, and the endless difficulties of frequent Electricity misses
and lack of supplies metal like “Voltage generator or oscilloscope signal” thankfully,
three students from the University of Damascus Faculty of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering
Department of automation and computers make this tablet model from the ground up (Mosaiek) .
According to one of the tablet designers: “We have chosen this name “Mozaiek” to relate the nobility
of the Damascene civilization and technology and that is shown at the back of the tablet."
The work based mainly on the software compilation of the project, where they built a Linux kernel
and modified it to be compatible with hardware of the tablet and write the Drivers to control screen backlit
and Bluetooth and Accelometer, and then build a root file system with “Angstrom” distribution and modify
the packages contained in to comply with the planned requirements.
Mozaiek specifications is:
1 GHZ - AM3359 ARM Cortex-A8 processor with 32 bit.
512 MB RAM DDR3
2 GB internal storage.
Support Ethernet, USB and HDMI
7 inch Resistive display with 16 Million color RGB.
1800 mA Battery.
Although the scientific content of the university did not meet the needs of inventors and
their passion for the invention of this tablet, but this ambitious young people decided to
walk into the unknown to search for their Goal ignoring the negative criticism and advice
of many and sometimes some teachers to abandon the project.
