New Nexus devices and Android L are expected to be unveiled soon

Thursday, September 25, 2014

The other day, we passed along a rumor that HTC engineers have been meeting with their Google counterparts to design the Nexus 9. This would be HTC's first slate since the ill-fated HTC Flyer, and is expected to be powered by the NVIDIA Tegra K1 processor. According to a report published on Tuesday, a couple of sources have indicated that the 9 inch slate will be unveiled on October 15th or October 16th.

Besides the tablet, there is some speculation that we will see a Motorola Nexus 6 handset also get unwrapped at the same time. Motorola is one of the major Android manufacturers that has yet to stamp its name on a Nexus handset. So far we have seen HTC, Samsung and LG build the stock Android models.

Another item that Android fans are waiting for is the release of Android L. According to the same report, the next build of the Android OS will also be introduced at the same time, although it probably won't be made available until November 1st. On that date, new Nexus models will start shipping with Android L, or existing Nexus devices will be updated to the new build. It is not certain which will happen first.

We have about three weeks, according to the rumors, until the Nexus 6, Nexus 9 and Android L will supposedly be introduced. You can keep your fingers tightly crossed until then.
