The Google Nexus is
Not officially just yet, but leaks have been way
too consistent and plentiful, and this latest one reveals the new face of the
Nexus series: two Nexus phones are coming, a 5.7” phablet by Huawei, and a 5.2”
phone by LG, and both will have front-facing speakers, a fingerprint reader on
their back, and a USB Type C connector.
The leak comes courtesy of French leaker Steve
Hammerstoffer (aka @onleaks), and also provides the full-on dimensions of the
two upcoming new phones. Keep in mind that while @onleaks has a great track
record with such pre-release info, this is still a leak and not official, and
should be taken with a grain of salt.
5.2” LG Nexus dimensions: 146.9 x 72.9 x 8/9.8mm
5.7” Huawei Nexus dimensions: 159.4 x 78.3 x 6.6/8.5mm
You can immediately see that having two numbers
for thickness means that these phones will most likely have a slight curve to
its back, much like the Moto X, with the smaller number representing the
thickness closer to the edges and the larger one - the maximum thickness in the
middle. It is also mentioned that the camera could protrude (as you can see in
the images below), which could also be the reason for the varying thickness
spec. Keep in mind that this latest leak gives details about the specifications
only, with no images, while the set of pictures below is from an earlier leak
that may or may not be related to the actual device.
Both phones are likely to be made out of metal,
with chances of the Huawei one being a metal-built phone with an all-aluminum
body, while the LG one having a metal frame rather than the whole body mate of
Naturally, the two phones will run the latest
Android M release that we saw officially unveiled a couple of months ago at
Google I/O. There are no further details about batteries or cameras, but with
the current pace that the rumor mill is running at, we won’t be surprised to
find out more about them soon.
