Complete specs leak for the HTC O2

Wednesday, August 19, 2015

Tuesday, we passed along some information that leaked about HTC's new flagship device. No, it is not called the M10. The phone will allegedly be known as the HTC O2. Since the following info is not official, we suggest that you take it with a grain of salt. According to a report out of China, this year the HTC O2 will be available with a 6-inch 1440 x 2560 QHD resolution screen. That works out to a 490ppi pixel density.

The HTC O2 will employ the Snapdragon 820 chipset, which will feature a quad-core CPU (carrying four custom Hydra cores) with the Adreno 530 GPU. 4GB of RAM is inside, along with 64GB/128GB of internal storage. A 20.7MP rear-facing camera adorns the back, and a 5MP snapper up front handles selfies and video chats. The very un-HTC like 3500mAh battery will keep the lights on for a long time, and the front panel will be narrow with thin side bezels. Speaking of the front, it sounds like the BoomSound front-facing stereo speakers will return. There is also talk that the device will have an IP certification with protection against dust and water.

The report goes on to say that a 5-inch version of the HTC O2 will be launched next year, sporting a 2K or 4K (!) resolution. A more powerful Snapdragon 82X chipset will power the handset, with an octa-core 3.X GHz CPU. The remaining specs should match what is alleged to be on this year's 6-inch version of the phone.
