HTC One A9 live image surfaces; Snapdragon 617 SoC, 2GB RAM, 16GB of native storage

Friday, September 25, 2015

Last night, we have some
images tweeted by Evan Blass, revealing color options for the HTC One A9. At the same time, the images also gave us a good look at the phone. It appears that earlier leaks showing off the back of the One A9 were legitimate. Today, we have a live image of the handset for you to stare at.

A previous tweet from Blass had already warned everyone that the One A9 is a mid-range model. To that end, the leaked photo of the phone confirms that the Snapdragon 617 chipset is inside, carrying an octa-core CPU and the Adreno 405 GPU. The live image of the phone also states that the unit has a 5-inch screen, with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 (producing a pixel density of 441ppi). 2GB of RAM is inside, along with 16GB of internal memory.

Other rumored specs include a 13MP rear-facing camera, possibly employing a Sony sensor. The infamous 4MP Ultrapixel front-facing camera used on the back of the HTC One (M7) and HTC One (M8), and found on the front of the HTC One M9, returns to snap selfies and handle video chats. You can see what appears to be a fingerprint scanner on the bottom of the unit, and a 2150mAh battery keeps the lights on.

According to Blass, the HTC One A9 will NOT be one of the devices unveiled during HTC's media event being held on September 29th. Instead, the tipster says that HTC will hold a huge event in multiple cities next month, and will be heavily marketing the model.
