Android 6.0 rollout announced and factory images live for Nexus 5, 6, 7, 9, and Nexus Player

Tuesday, October 06, 2015

Today is the day that Google promised the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to start rolling out to Nexus users and while we have yet to hear about over-the-air (OTA) updates hitting devices, Google has posted a number of factory images for various Nexus devices. If you're the type of person who likes to do a clean install of a new update, this is your time.

Google has announced that OTA rollouts have started, but we have yet to hear any reports that users are getting those updates. Of course, not all Nexus devices are on the update list. Factory images have been posted for the Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 7 (2013), Nexus 9, and Nexus Player. This leaves out the Nexus 4, Nexus 7 (2012), and Nexus 10, and so far there is no indication that any of these devices will be seeing Android 6.0 any time soon.
