Parrot's AR.Drone: A remote controlled helicopter to unleash the kid inside you

Saturday, January 09, 2010
Being all grown up doesn’t mean you always have to act like it. Sometimes you just have to let the inner kid come out and have fun.

Parrot, probably best known for its Bluetooth accessory line for mobile phones, has introduced a WiFi-enabled remote control helicopter that takes its commands from the iPhone or iPod touch of your choice knows as the AR.Drone to really let loose the kid inside of you.

The wacky toy has a pair of on-board cameras, one to help steady itself and the other to beam a live bird's-eye view (almost literally, if you pretend for a moment that this is in fact a bird) from the captain's seat onto your phone's screen.

You’ll have to drool over the video in the mean time to get your fix because it’s not slated for release to consumers until “sometime in 2010.” No word yet in its pricing as well – let’s just hope it won’t cost two arms or an eye.
