The Xiaomi Redmi 3 doesn't feature a fingerprint scanner, but it looks like
we'll soon see a variant that comes loaded with one.
The upcoming Redmi 3 variant recently made its way to China’s
TENAA, revealing a slightly different spec-sheet and an unchanged design. As you can see in the TENAA
photos of the device above, Xiaomi hasn’t made any changes to the handset’s
design. Everything on the front side, including the positioning of the sensors
and the front-facing camera are virtually identical to the regular Redmi 3.
However, the back isn’t completely similar, with the main difference being the
rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.
As far as the specifications go, the device is
going to feature:
5-inch 720 x 1280 HD display.
octa-core SoC clocked at 1.5GHz.
2GB of RAM.
16GB onboard storage.
3,000mAh capacity battery.
The handset is rumored to be priced at RMB 799
when it goes on sale, which converts to about $122. That’s slightly higher than
the launch price of the regular Redmi 3.
