Motorola confirms 2GHz phone for later this year

Monday, June 14, 2010
Motorola CEO Sanjay Jha recently said that the company plans to bring a handset to market by the end of the year powered by a 2GHz processor. Motorola spokesperson Juli Burda has confirmed that this is indeed fact, and the company will introduce a handset with a 2GHz processor in board later this year. But neither Jha nor Burda provided any more information about the device.

Many of today's high-end smartphones are powered by 1GHz chips, with some of them coming from Qualcomm. Qualcomm has publicly announced plans to introduce 1.5GHz Snapdragon processors (SnapDragon dual-core QSD8672, for example), but hasn't said anything about 2GHz processors yet.

So, we'll have to wait till the end of this year or until someone says something about this in the near future.
