Official Sony PlayStation app coming soon for Android and iPhone handsets

Sunday, December 26, 2010
About a week ago Sony announced that they are going to launch the official PlayStation app for both iPhone and Android very soon. We are sure this is great news for gamers allowing them to stay social and keep up to date with friends' games, trophies, as well as discover the latest games for PS3, PS2 and PSP on their cell phone.

The first version (1.0) will be available by Christmas in the following countries: UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, and The Netherlands. But the next version, which will include many other markets and support other languages, is already in the works and will come as soon as January next year. The app supports iPhones running iOS 4.0 and above, as well as most Androids running versions from 1.6 and later. iPads will also get the app in the near future.

The official PlayStation app is a project that will develop over time and Sony assured gamers that “there are tons more features we are planning to bring to this app in the next few months.” Unfortunately, other platforms like Windows Phone 7, BlackBerry OS and Symbian are out of the plans for the moment.
