BlackBerry OS 7.1

RIM has announced that BlackBerry OS 7.1 will begin rolling out for devices starting today and over the coming weeks.

Users will get the mobile hotspot feature, BlackBerry Tag a new content sharing tool which uses Near Field Communication (NFC) technology to allow users to share contacts, media and files, as well as invite friends to BlackBerry Messenger by touching their BlackBerry smartphones together. WiFi calling is now available (depending on your carrier) with BlackBerry 7.1 OS. The update also brings FM Radio capabilities to Curve 9360 and 9380 smartphones, BlackBerry Maps has also been updated to show special offers, coupons and discounts on the map itself.

Besides the major OS upgrade, RIM also updated a number of apps, including BlackBerry Messenger, BlackBerry Traffic, and BlackBerry Travel.
