Thinner and faster Samsung storage chip

Sunday, November 18, 2012

Samsung had stated that their new storage for smartphones will be thinner and faster, thanks to 10nm-class process technology instead of 20nm.

The new 64GB NAND will be 30% faster than the previous generation, while achieving sequential read/write speeds of 260MB/s and 50MB/s. which is up to 10 times faster than the previous  memory cards!

And it will take 20% lees space inside the smartphone at 11.5x13mm compared to 12x16mm of a conventional embedded memory solution.

This new technology is being suspected to deploy within 6 months or more, but the challenge that all companies will face is the power issue, where with new and improved performance there is higher battery consumption, so hope that we will hear a new battery technology in the near future that will be able to support all this new improved technology.
