Android + Chrome = Andromeda; merged OS reportedly coming to the Pixel 3

Tuesday, September 27, 2016

Back to October 2015 a report from the Wall Street Journal that claimed Google was working on folding Chrome OS into Android to create a single operating system. The resulting product would reportedly bring Android to laptops and desktops.

And now according to a new report from the Android Police, Google is working on a new project known internally as 'Bison' and by the informal nickname 'Pixel 3’, and this project will likely be the first brand-new device to showcase Google's combined Android / Chrome OS 'Andromeda' operating system.

The report also claims that this new project will lunch during the second half of next year.

To recall, Google is going to hold an event on October 4 to announce the first two smartphones in the new Pixel series.

While this may seem like big news in itself, a recent tweet by Hiroshi Lockheimer, SVP Android, Chrome OS & Play indicates there may be something even bigger in the offing - at least, speculation has begun on this front.

So we expect the company to tease or unveil Google Andromeda OS at its October 4 event, while the launch will still be sometime next year.
